Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chili peppers, sliced
- 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tomato, cut into wedges
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the onion, garlic, and red chili peppers. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the shrimp and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.
- Stir in the tamarind paste, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and turmeric. Cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in the water and add the tomato wedges. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
