Acehnese Spicy Soup (Kuah Pliek) is a traditional dish from the Acehnese Cuisine, known for its bold and spicy flavors. This hearty soup is perfect for warming up on a cold day and is packed with aromatic spices and tender meat.
Ingredients
- 500g beef, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 3 shallots, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 lemongrass stalks, bruised
- 3 kaffir lime leaves
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp galangal, minced
- 1 tsp tamarind paste
- 1 L water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil.
- Add the beef, tomatoes, shallots, garlic, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, green chilies, turmeric powder, and galangal to the pot.
- Simmer over medium heat for 45 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
- Add tamarind paste and salt to taste. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
