Acehnese Spicy Tofu Stir-fry

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sambal oelek (chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu cubes between paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sambal oelek, and tamarind paste to make the sauce.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown. Remove the tofu from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant. Add the bell peppers and green chilies, and stir-fry for a few minutes.
  5. Return the tofu to the pan and pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Season with salt to taste and serve hot.
