Acehnese Spicy Tofu Stir-fry
Acehnese Spicy Tofu Stir-Fry is a flavorful and spicy dish from Acehnese cuisine that combines crispy tofu with a variety of aromatic spices and vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cubed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sambal oelek (chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Press the tofu cubes between paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sambal oelek, and tamarind paste to make the sauce.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown. Remove the tofu from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant. Add the bell peppers and green chilies, and stir-fry for a few minutes.
- Return the tofu to the pan and pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Season with salt to taste and serve hot.
