Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup mixed fresh herbs (such as parsley, dill, and cilantro), chopped
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the yogurt and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, then cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a separate bowl, mix the crumbled feta cheese and chopped herbs.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll out each portion into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.
- Place a portion of the cheese and herb mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, leaving the center open.
- Brush the exposed dough with the beaten egg wash.
- Bake the khachapuri for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
