Agra Ke Bedmi Puri (आगरा के बेडमी पूरी)
आगरा के बेडमी पूरी (Agra Ke Bedmi Puri) is a popular dish from the Uttar Pradesh Cuisine. It is a delicious deep-fried bread made with spiced lentil filling, usually served with aloo sabzi and sweet and tangy tamarind chutney.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup urad dal (black gram lentils)
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, salt, and water to make a stiff dough. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.
- Soak urad dal in water for 2 hours. Drain the water and grind it to a coarse paste.
- Add fennel seeds, ginger, asafoetida, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the dal paste. Mix well to make the filling.
- Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center and seal the edges to make a stuffed ball.
- Roll out the stuffed balls into puris and deep fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with aloo sabzi and tamarind chutney.
