Agra Ke Petha Ki Kheer is a traditional dessert from the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. This creamy and aromatic kheer is made using the famous Agra Petha, a sweet candy made from ash gourd, and is a delightful treat for special occasions.

Agra Ke Petha Ki Kheer (आगरा के पेठे की खीर)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated Agra Petha
  • 1 liter full-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
  • 1 tablespoon raisins

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil.
  2. Add the grated Agra Petha and simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the milk reduces to half.
  3. Add sugar and cardamom powder, and continue to cook until the kheer thickens to the desired consistency.
  4. Stir in the chopped nuts and raisins, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  6. Refrigerate the kheer for a few hours before serving.
