Agra Petha Delight is a traditional sweet dish from the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. This delectable dessert is made with ash gourd and flavored with aromatic spices, making it a perfect treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 kg ash gourd (peeled and deseeded)
- 500g sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/4 tsp saffron strands
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Cut the ash gourd into small cubes or desired shapes.
- In a large pan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the ash gourd pieces to the sugar syrup and cook until they turn translucent, stirring occasionally.
- Once the ash gourd is cooked, add cardamom powder and saffron strands. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let the petha cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, transfer the Agra Petha Delight to a serving dish and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
