Ingredients

  • 1 kg ash gourd (peeled and deseeded)
  • 500g sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp saffron strands
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Cut the ash gourd into small cubes or desired shapes.
  2. In a large pan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the ash gourd pieces to the sugar syrup and cook until they turn translucent, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the ash gourd is cooked, add cardamom powder and saffron strands. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and let the petha cool to room temperature.
  6. Once cooled, transfer the Agra Petha Delight to a serving dish and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
