Albanian Fried Liver with Onions (Mëlçi të Prerë me Qepë)

Ingredients

  • 500g lamb or beef liver, sliced
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high.
  4. Add the sliced liver to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.
  5. Season the liver with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve the fried liver topped with the caramelized onions.
