Albanian Fried Liver with Onions (Mëlçi të Prerë me Qepë)
Mëlçi të Prerë me Qepë is a traditional dish from Kosovan cuisine, featuring tender fried liver with caramelized onions.
Ingredients
- 500g lamb or beef liver, sliced
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high.
- Add the sliced liver to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.
- Season the liver with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the fried liver topped with the caramelized onions.
