Ingredients

  • 1 lb Alberta beef, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 8 oz chow mein noodles
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in the same skillet. Add the garlic, onion, and mushrooms. Stir-fry until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and vegetables. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  6. Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the skillet and toss to combine with the beef and vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
