فطائر البحرية الإسكندرية (Alexandria's Seafood Pastry Puffs) are a delicious Egyptian dish that combines the flavors of the sea with flaky pastry. These savory puffs are perfect for a special occasion or as a unique appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets
- 200g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 200g squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
- 200g white fish fillet, cut into small pieces
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add the seafood (shrimp, squid, and fish) to the pan, and cook until just opaque.
- Season the seafood with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut them into squares.
- Place a spoonful of the seafood mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg, then fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle. Press the edges to seal.
- Place the pastry puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let the pastry puffs cool slightly before serving.
