इलाहाबाद का मटर का निमोना (Allahabad Ka Matar Ka Nimona) is a traditional dish from the Uttar Pradesh Cuisine, known for its rich flavors and aromatic spices. This hearty and flavorful green pea curry is a popular dish in the region and is often enjoyed with steamed rice or Indian bread.
Ingredients
- 500g fresh green peas
- 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
- Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the fresh green peas and stir to coat them with the spice mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the curry simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the peas are tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or Indian bread.
