Ingredients

  • 1 liter full-fat milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon saffron strands
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil.
  2. Simmer the milk on low heat, stirring occasionally, until it reduces to half the quantity.
  3. Add sugar, saffron strands, and ghee to the reduced milk. Cook on low heat, stirring continuously.
  4. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
  5. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  7. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth balls to form pedas.
  8. Garnish with saffron strands and chopped nuts if desired.
  9. Allow the pedas to cool completely before serving.
