Allahabad Ki Masala Puri (इलाहाबाद की मसाला पूरी)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for kneading
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, chopped coriander leaves, chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. Add water gradually and knead the mixture into a stiff dough.
  3. Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls and roll them out into small puris (round discs).
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Deep fry the puris until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the puris from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve the masala puris hot with a side of spicy potato curry or chutney.
