Ingredients

  • 2 cups ground almonds
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground almonds, sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract.
  4. Gently fold the egg mixture into the dry ingredients until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Slice and serve the almond cake at room temperature.
