Aloo Chop (spiced Potato Cutlets)

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Handful of fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, onion, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and fresh coriander leaves.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties or cutlets.
  3. Roll each patty in breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the cutlets until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Remove the cutlets from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
