Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes until the raw aroma disappears.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and the oil separates.
  4. Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a minute.
  5. Add the cubed potatoes and green peas. Mix well to coat the vegetables with the spices.
  6. Pour in 2 cups of water and bring the curry to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook until the potatoes are tender.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
