Aloo Tikki (potato Cutlets)
Aloo Tikki, also known as Potato Cutlets, is a popular Pashtun dish made with mashed potatoes and a blend of aromatic spices. These crispy and flavorful cutlets are perfect for serving as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons cornflour
- Oil for shallow frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger paste, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add cornflour to the mixture and mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round, flat cutlets.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the cutlets until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Remove the cutlets from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Aloo Tikki hot with chutney or ketchup.
