Aloo Tikki (spiced Potato Fritters)

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, chopped cilantro, and salt.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties.
  3. Roll each patty in breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  5. Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
