Ingredients
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 6 sheets phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and chopped walnuts. Mix well and set aside.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean, dry surface. Brush the sheet with melted butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
- Spoon the apple mixture along one long edge of the phyllo stack, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the short edges of the phyllo over the filling, then roll the strudel tightly.
- Transfer the strudel to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down. Brush the top with melted butter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
