Amai Chili Gyoza (sweet Chili Gyoza)

Ingredients

  • 24 gyoza wrappers
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, ground pork, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of a gyoza wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper in half and pleat the edges to seal the gyoza.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the gyoza in the skillet in a single layer and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour water into the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the gyoza for 5 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.
  5. While the gyoza are cooking, prepare the sweet chili sauce by combining 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve the gyoza with the sweet chili sauce for dipping.
