Amai Chili Gyoza (sweet Chili Gyoza)
Gyoza, also known as potstickers, are a popular Japanese Chinese dish that consists of dumplings filled with savory ingredients. In this recipe, we will be making Amai Chili Gyoza, which features a sweet and spicy chili sauce that perfectly complements the juicy and flavorful filling.
Ingredients
- 24 gyoza wrappers
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1 cup ground pork
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, ground pork, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of a gyoza wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper in half and pleat the edges to seal the gyoza.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the gyoza in the skillet in a single layer and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour water into the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the gyoza for 5 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.
- While the gyoza are cooking, prepare the sweet chili sauce by combining 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the gyoza with the sweet chili sauce for dipping.
