Amarula Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Amarula liqueur
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate, Amarula liqueur, and unsalted butter over a double boiler. Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with granulated sugar until pale and creamy. Gradually pour the chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture, stirring constantly.
  3. In another bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the chocolate mixture, followed by the whipped cream, until fully combined.
  5. Divide the mousse into serving glasses or ramekins and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
  6. Before serving, garnish with chocolate shavings or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
