Ambal Satay Adventure (sate Ambal Adventure)

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken, cut into cubes
  • 5 shallots, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the shallots, garlic, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, sweet soy sauce, and vegetable oil to create a marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and ensure they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked bamboo skewers.
  4. Heat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium heat. Grill the satay for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the Ambal Satay hot with steamed rice and a side of fresh cucumber and tomato salad.
