Ambot Tik (goan Prawn Curry)
Ambot Tik is a classic Goan Catholic dish known for its spicy and tangy flavors. This Goan Prawn Curry is a perfect blend of tanginess and spiciness, making it a favorite among seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
- 6-8 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
- 2 cups water
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and black pepper powder. Mix well.
- Add the prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the tamarind pulp and water. Season with salt and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Once the prawns are cooked and the curry reaches the desired consistency, remove from heat.
