Ambot Tik (goan Prawn Curry)

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4-5 green chilies, slit
  • 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 6-8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  2. Add green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and black pepper powder. Mix well.
  4. Add the prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the tamarind pulp and water. Season with salt and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Once the prawns are cooked and the curry reaches the desired consistency, remove from heat.
