Apfelstrudel Delight

Ingredients
- 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 6 sheets phyllo pastry
- 1/2 cup melted vegan butter
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, raisins, chopped walnuts, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
- Spread out a sheet of phyllo pastry and brush it with melted vegan butter. Sprinkle with a thin layer of breadcrumbs.
- Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
- Spoon the apple filling along one long edge of the phyllo stack, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the short edges of the phyllo over the filling, then roll it up into a log.
- Transfer the strudel to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down. Brush the top with more melted vegan butter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let the strudel cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
