Appelpannenkoeken, or Dutch Apple Pancakes, are a delicious and comforting dish that is perfect for breakfast or brunch. These fluffy pancakes are filled with sweet and tart apples, and they are sure to be a hit with the whole family.
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 4 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, 1/4 cup sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs. Gradually whisk the milk mixture into the flour mixture until smooth.
- In a large ovenproof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook until the apples are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the batter over the apples in the skillet. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until the pancake is puffed and golden, about 15 minutes.
- Slide the pancake onto a serving platter. Cut into wedges and serve hot.
