Ingredients
- 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 package (2 sheets) refrigerated pie crusts
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flour. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
- Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Spoon the apple filling into the crust.
- Top the apple filling with the second pie crust. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
- Make several small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
