Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples, 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  3. Melt the butter and mix it with the flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, salt, egg, and vanilla extract to form the dough.
  4. Press half of the dough into the bottom of a greased 9-inch pie dish.
  5. Spread the apple mixture over the dough in the pie dish.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough over the apple mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it cool before serving.
