Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 6 small apples, peeled and cored
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Fill each cored apple with the sugar mixture and top each with a piece of butter.
  4. Roll out the pie crusts and cut into 6 squares.
  5. Place an apple in the center of each square and bring the corners of the pastry up to the top of the apple, pinching the edges to seal.
  6. Place the dumplings in a baking dish.
  7. In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water, and bring to a boil. Pour the mixture over the dumplings.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender.
