Apple Dumplings
Apple dumplings are a delicious dessert that combines tender, spiced apples with a flaky pastry crust. This recipe is a perfect way to enjoy the flavors of fall!
Ingredients
- 6 small apples, peeled and cored
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Fill each cored apple with the sugar mixture and top each with a piece of butter.
- Roll out the pie crusts and cut into 6 squares.
- Place an apple in the center of each square and bring the corners of the pastry up to the top of the apple, pinching the edges to seal.
- Place the dumplings in a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water, and bring to a boil. Pour the mixture over the dumplings.
- Bake for 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender.
