Apple Pie (Plăcintă cu mere) is a traditional Moldovan dessert that is loved for its flaky crust and sweet apple filling. This recipe is a perfect combination of tender apples, warm spices, and buttery pastry, making it a delightful treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 recipe pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flour until the apples are evenly coated.
- Roll out half of the pastry and line a 9-inch pie dish with it. Pour the apple filling into the pastry-lined dish.
- Roll out the remaining pastry and place it over the filling. Seal and flute the edges, then make several small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Allow the pie to cool before serving. Enjoy!
