Apple Pudding (guernsey Gache Mêlée)
Apple pudding, also known as Guernsey Gache Mêlée, is a traditional dessert from the Channel Islands. This delicious pudding is made with apples, bread, and spices, creating a comforting and satisfying treat.
Ingredients
- 6 cups of apples, peeled and sliced
- 8 slices of white bread, crusts removed
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 cup of butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Layer half of the apples in a greased baking dish.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place half of them over the apples.
- Sprinkle half of the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg over the bread.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining apples, bread, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the apples are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
