Apple Tart (tarta De Manzana)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4-5 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Arrange the apple slices in concentric circles over the crust, slightly overlapping each other.
  5. Bake the tart for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.
  6. Warm the apricot preserves in a small saucepan over low heat. Brush the warm preserves over the top of the tart for a glossy finish.
  7. Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
