Applesauce Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, mix together the applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
