Apricot Dumplings (Marillenknödel)
Marillenknödel, or Apricot Dumplings, are a traditional Viennese dessert that is popular during the summer months. These sweet dumplings are made with fresh apricots and are a delightful treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 6 fresh apricots
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Pit the apricots and fill the cavity with sugar.
- In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter and cinnamon.
- Form the dough into a ball and wrap each apricot with the dough, making sure it is completely covered.
- Boil the dumplings in a large pot of water for about 10-12 minutes.
- Remove the dumplings from the water and roll them in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Serve the Marillenknödel warm and enjoy!
