Ingredients

  • 4 cups wild berries (such as blueberries, raspberries, or salmonberries)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the wild berries, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries release their juices. Pour the mixture into a 9x9 inch baking dish.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the melted butter and milk until just combined. Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the berry mixture.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.
