Arctic Char Sushi Rolls (Nieriäsushirullat)
Nieriäsushirullat are a traditional dish from the Sami cuisine, featuring the delicate flavors of Arctic Char in a sushi roll.
Ingredients
- 4 sheets of nori seaweed
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 1 pound Arctic Char, thinly sliced
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Soy sauce, for serving
- Wasabi, for serving
- Pickled ginger, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the sushi rice according to package instructions, then let it cool.
- In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Drizzle this mixture over the cooled rice and gently fold to combine.
- Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
- Arrange the Arctic Char, cucumber, and avocado in a line across the center of the rice.
- Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, sealing the edge with a little water.
- Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces using a sharp knife.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
