Jäämeren herkku, or Arctic Delight, is a traditional dish from the Sami cuisine, featuring fresh and simple ingredients that are readily available in the Arctic region.
Ingredients
- 500g reindeer meat, thinly sliced
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup lingonberries
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the reindeer meat and cook until browned.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
- Add the diced potatoes and enough water to cover the ingredients.
- Simmer for 1 hour, or until the meat is tender and the potatoes are cooked.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, topped with lingonberries.
