Arepas Doradas (golden Arepas)
Arepas Doradas, or Golden Arepas, are a traditional dish from Muisca Cuisine that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a side dish for any meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups pre-cooked cornmeal
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the pre-cooked cornmeal, warm water, and salt until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and shape them into thick discs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Cook the arepas for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
