Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parsley, and black pepper.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough and place a damp towel over it to prevent it from drying out.
  4. Brush a sheet of phyllo dough with melted butter, then place another sheet on top and brush with butter again. Repeat this process to create a stack of 5 sheets.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the cheese mixture over the phyllo stack, leaving a border around the edges.
  6. Roll the phyllo stack into a log, then coil it into a spiral shape and tuck the end underneath.
  7. Place the börek on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush the top with the beaten egg, and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the börek to cool for a few minutes before serving.
