Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the flour and milk, then gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the chopped almonds on top.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat. Once hot, pour it over the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  7. Spread the chocolate ganache over the cooled cake and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
