Ingredients

  • 1 lb lamb, cubed
  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 6 cups water or broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the lamb over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the turmeric, coriander, and cumin, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the lentils and water or broth, and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the lamb and lentils are tender.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
