Axone Wala Murgi Curry (naga Style Smoked Chicken Curry)
Axone Wala Murgi Curry, also known as Naga Style Smoked Chicken Curry, is a traditional dish from the North East Indian state of Nagaland. This flavorful curry is made with smoked chicken and fermented soybean, giving it a unique and delicious taste.
Ingredients
- 500g smoked chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup axone (fermented soybean)
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and black pepper powder. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add the smoked chicken pieces and axone. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the curry simmer for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
