Ingredients

  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the tamarind paste, soy sauce, and honey. Marinate the chicken pieces in this mixture for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until browned. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant. Add the sliced bell peppers and cook until they begin to soften.
  4. Return the chicken to the pan. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the pan to thicken the sauce.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the Ayam Asam Manis hot with steamed rice.
