Ingredients

  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon sambal oelek (Indonesian chili paste)
  • 2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, coat the chicken pieces in cornstarch, then dip them in the beaten eggs.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
