Ingredients
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon sambal oelek (Indonesian chili paste)
- 2 green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, coat the chicken pieces in cornstarch, then dip them in the beaten eggs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pan, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sambal oelek. Cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens.
