Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying
- 10 red chili peppers
- 5 shallots
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tomato
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper. Coat the chicken pieces with the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a blender, combine the red chili peppers, shallots, garlic, and tomato. Blend into a smooth paste.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Add the chili paste and cook until fragrant.
- Add tamarind paste and salt to the chili paste. Stir well and cook for a few more minutes.
- Serve the fried chicken with the spicy sambal sauce on the side.
