Azerbaijani Style Dumplings (Xəngəl)

Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb or beef
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground meat, chopped onions, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, egg, and water to make the dough.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut it into small circles.
  4. Place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center of each circle and fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape.
  5. Press the edges of the dough together to seal the dumplings.
  6. Boil the dumplings in salted water for about 10 minutes or until they float to the surface.
  7. Remove the dumplings from the water and serve hot.
