Azerbaijani Style Rice Pudding (Sütlü Orman)
Sütlü Orman is a traditional Azerbaijani rice pudding that is creamy, comforting, and delicately flavored with cardamom and rose water.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice
- 4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon rose water
- Slivered almonds and pistachios for garnish
Instructions
- Wash the rice and drain well.
- In a large pot, bring the milk to a boil.
- Add the washed rice to the boiling milk and reduce the heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes or until the rice is soft and the mixture has thickened.
- Stir in the sugar, ground cardamom, and rose water. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and let the pudding cool slightly.
- Divide the pudding into serving bowls and garnish with slivered almonds and pistachios.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
