Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork belly
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the garlic, shallot, five-spice powder, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Score the skin of the pork belly with a sharp knife, then rub the marinade all over the pork, making sure to get it into the scores.
  4. Place the pork on a wire rack in a roasting pan, skin side up.
  5. Roast the pork in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the skin is crispy and the meat is tender.
  6. Let the pork rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
