Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup pitted dates
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
- Heat some oil in a tagine or large skillet over medium heat. Brown the chicken on all sides, then remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
- Add the cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and turmeric. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Return the chicken to the skillet. Add the dates and honey.
- Cover and simmer for 45-50 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving.
