Bahraini Lamb And Date Tagine

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup pitted dates
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large tagine or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the lamb chunks and brown on all sides, then remove from the pot and set aside.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, then add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the ground cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and turmeric, and cook for a few minutes until fragrant.
