Baikal Fisherman's Delight
Baikal Fisherman's Delight is a traditional dish from Buryat Cuisine, inspired by the flavors of Lake Baikal in Siberia. This hearty and flavorful fish stew is perfect for warming up on a chilly day.
Ingredients
- 500g white fish fillets, cut into chunks
- 2 onions, sliced
- 3 tomatoes, diced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 4 cups fish or vegetable broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic, paprika, cumin, and chili powder, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and bell pepper, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the fish or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer.
- Add the fish chunks and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Baikal Fisherman's Delight hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
